TinyPic Video and Image Host

tinypic.gifTinyPic.com is owned by Photobucket, but looks and feels more like ImageShack. Unlike Photobucket, TinyPic does not require registration, and the upload form is directly on the front page. The whole website is surprisingly simply, and it basically consists of an upload page and a few pages for browsing. There isn't even an FAQ page or a help section. For support, the site instructs you to directly email Alex Welch, the CEO and co-founder of Photobucket.

tinypic.jpgAlthough the website and service appear simple and unprofessional, the service is highly popular and the traffic grows consistently.

The name TinyPic does not mean the service shrinks uploaded images, but instead refers to the extremely short URLs that uploaded images are associated with.

In addition to images, TinyPic supports the uploading of video files, something ImageShack does not.

TinyPic allows users to keep track of uploaded files by saving the uploader's IP address. This makes the service simpler to use, but also creates certain problems, such as not being able to keep track of files from any computer other than the one that uploaded the files.

TinyPic is a simple and easy to use alternative to Photobucket that resembles ImageShack in many ways.

OMG! Thank you soo much for posting this! I knew nothing about tinypic! It is soooo much easier than the way I was doing it!! Thank you guys soooo much!
It was nice of you to write about them!

I like Imageshack better, I have personally never tried tinypic but I have seen bandwith exceeded on some lyaouts on Xanga. And it's a lot easier for me to not have to worry about bandwith. About the keeping track of images, if I lose the url I simply just upload it again.

Tinypic is a great way to upload images AND videos (Yay, some where that supports videos!) I was amazed and excited at how many file types are supported. Quick and easy! Thanks for the info :-)
